Metal fabrication services for experiential builds

Custom steel and aluminum fabrication starts in our Los Angeles shop, where every piece is welded, finished, and built for reliable use. Our work supports people safely, ships flat for easy transport, and delivers a clean look ready for stage lights, events, and installations. Send us your drawing or full project, and we’ll bring your vision to life.

What it is

Metal fabrication services transform steel, aluminum, and other metals into custom-built pieces through cutting, bending, welding, and finishing. Our fabrication process follows detailed drawings to create strong parts, frames, platforms, and structures for experiential builds. Unlike a general metal shop, we focus on production-ready metalwork designed for fast installation and safe use.

Formats

What we build in metal

Metal fabrication builds the hidden structures and standout pieces that bring experiential spaces to life. We create custom steel and aluminum work, including structural frames, platforms, stages, counters, signage, facades, sculptures, and rigging structures designed for strength, safety, and visual impact.

Finishing
Professional paint and powder coating options for a finished appearance.
Scope
Support for a single custom bracket or a complete fabrication project.
Whether people will stand on it or it will hang overhead, we plan the structure before fabrication begins. Our engineering team develops shop drawings, coordinates details, and prepares documentation required for installation. When stamped drawings are needed, we work with qualified engineering resources to support project requirements.
Materials

What metals we work with

Metal materials for fabrication are selected based on strength, weight, durability, appearance, and project needs. We work with steel, aluminum, stainless steel, sheet metal, perforated metal, and specialty metals to create custom frames, platforms, surfaces, panels, and detailed architectural elements.

01
Mild steel
A reliable choice for structural frames, platforms, and bases. Strong, cost-effective, and finished with paint or protective coatings to prevent corrosion.
02
Aluminum
A lightweight metal option ideal for touring builds, shipping applications, and overhead structures where reducing weight matters.
03
Stainless steel
A durable, clean-looking material used for food counters, bars, and high-touch surfaces with brushed or polished finishes.
04
Sheet and perforated metal
Thin metal panels used for cladding, decorative skins, screens, and designs that balance structure with visual detail.
05
Brass, copper, and bronze
Warm-toned metals used for accents, trim, hardware, and custom details that add character to a build.

Getting started

What to send us for a metal quote

Project details for metal fabrication help us create accurate drawings, plan production, and build the right solution. Share your dimensions, structural needs, finishes, installation requirements, and timeline so our team can prepare the fabrication process correctly.

01
Finished size
Tell us the exact dimensions of the finished piece. Provide real measurements instead of scaled drawings, since unclear sizing is one of the most common causes of project delays.
02
Structural requirements
Will people stand on it, lean on it, or walk beneath it? Knowing the load requirements helps us select the right materials, welding methods, and engineering approach.
03
Finish and appearance
Choose the desired surface finish, such as raw metal, paint, powder coating, brushed metal, or chrome. You can also share a reference photo to show the intended look.
04
Shipping and installation
Tell us whether the piece is for a single installation or a touring project. We plan breakdowns around freight elevators, door sizes, trucks, and venue access points.
05
Project timeline
Share your load-in date rather than only your delivery date. We will review the schedule and provide realistic fabrication timing.

A sketch, photo, render, or AI-generated image is enough to begin. Our design and engineering team can develop it into professional shop drawings, so you do not need to hire an engineer before contacting us.

Process

How our metal fabrication process works

Metal fabrication process moves each project from initial drawings to final installation through six clear steps. Our team handles design review, engineering, cutting, welding, finishing, and delivery to create accurate, durable metalwork from start to finish.

01
Files
Send CAD drawings, 3D models, or simple sketches. We review the information you have and use it to begin the fabrication process.
02
Engineering
We plan the structure, loads, connections, and fabrication details before creating shop drawings for production.
03
Cutting and forming
Metal is cut and shaped to match the approved drawings, using the right fabrication methods for each material and design.
04
Welding and assembly
Components are welded, inspected against the drawings, and test-fitted in our shop to confirm accuracy before finishing.
05
Finishing
We apply the required surface treatment, including paint, powder coating, or brushed finishes, based on the project’s appearance and durability needs.
06
Delivery and installation
Finished pieces are carefully packed, transported, and installed on site by our experienced crew.
Why us

Why experiential metalwork is different

Precision welding supports successful metal fabrication projects by considering the full build process, from production to installation. Our welding team works alongside carpentry, CNC, scenic, and install crews to create structures that are strong, practical, and ready for real-world use.

01
We weld knowing what comes next
Every weld is planned around assembly, packing, transportation, and installation requirements. We understand how each piece connects, how it ships, and how quickly it needs to be installed on site.
02
Built to come apart and go again
Our reusable builds include bolt-together connections, labeled components, and parts sized for freight elevators, trucks, and repeat installations. We design fabrication solutions that can support five or more restages.
03
Engineered before it is welded
Structural planning, safety considerations, and shop drawings are completed before fabrication begins. Our engineering team solves potential issues during design, not during installation.

Every panel fit first time. On a two-night load-in, that is the whole game.

What happens next to the cut.

Cut parts rarely travel alone. These are the shops they move through next, all in the same building.

FAQ

Metal fabrication questions

What metal fabrication services does Monum Fab offer?+

Monum Fab offers structural and decorative metal fabrication for experiential builds. That includes frames, platforms, counters, signage, sculptures, and rigging-ready structures in steel and aluminum. Our own team engineers, welds, finishes, and installs the work from our Los Angeles shop.

Can I order metal work on its own, without a full build?+

Yes. Many agencies and scenic teams only need a base, a stand, or a hanging structure. Send the drawing and we will quote the metal on its own. We can also paint, finish, or install it if you want.

Can I order cutting on its own, without a full build? +

Yes. Plenty of clients send us files for parts only. We also take it further if you want, sanding, sealing, painting, or assembling before it ships.

Should I use steel or aluminum?+

Use aluminum when the piece has to travel, hang, or be lifted by hand. Aluminum weighs about one-third as much as steel. Use steel for platforms, bases, and anything that needs weight to stay put. Steel also costs less. Many builds use both.

What is the difference between MIG and TIG welding?+

MIG welding feeds wire through a gun. It is fast and strong, which suits hidden structure. TIG welding is slower and more precise. TIG leaves a cleaner weld and works well on aluminum and stainless steel. We use TIG wherever a weld will be seen.

How fast can you turn metal work around?+

Turnaround depends on the engineering, the finish, and our shop schedule. A simple painted frame moves faster than a platform that needs stamped drawings. Send the drawing and your load-in date. We will give you a real date and tell you honestly if it works.
